In the maps feature, why are cities and roads missing in some countries?

MyHeritage, together with many other web sites, uses Google Maps as a provider of mapping services for our software.

The Google Maps web site (maps.google.com) shows data that is different than the data that Google provides for other software and websites that use their service.

Notably, there are some countries such as Israel, where Google has recently removed locations and names of cities and streets from their maps.

Sources in Google are stating that this is a legal matter they are working on solving but are not providing any timelines as to when this problem could be expected to be resolved.
